Choo Shin-soo, who turned into the front desk, has been confirmed for the new season.
SSG Landers, a professional baseball team, announced on the 27th that "Choo Shin-soo has been appointed as the assistant and general manager of the team."
"Based on his experience in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB), we judged that Choo Shin-soo could help young players grow well," SSG said. "In addition, given the sincerity he showed as a player and his MLB human assets, he evaluated that he would be active as an assistant to the owner."
Choo Shin-soo said through the club, "I am grateful to the club for entrusting me with the heavy responsibility of assisting the owner and developing the team," adding, "I will continue to learn and study to faithfully fulfill my given role."
Choo Shin-soo joined the 스포츠토토 KBO League SSG in 2021 after batting .275 with 218 homers and 782 RBIs in 1,652 MLB games. He then retired after batting .263, 54 homers and 205 RBIs in four seasons until this year.
While discussing future roles with the club, Choo Shin-soo decided on his first position as the "second division front" and confirmed his title on the same day.
Choo Shin-soo is expected to focus on fostering prospects within the team and externally share his steps with Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin.
Chung reportedly persuaded Choo to join SSG in 2021. Since then, Choo has had a special relationship with Chung.
When owner Jung Yong-jin visited the U.S. in 2021, he also visited Globe Life Field, the latest open-close dome home ground for the MLB Texas Rangers, at Choo Shin-soo's recommendation.
